I’d like to know what the strategy means by ‘embedding a safe culture’ and what proposals might be made to meet this end?

Perhaps I am being gormless, but where is the video "We have summarised the results in this nine minute video.” please?

This is the video embedded in the article on the BMC website:

youtube.com/watch?v=JsKriU4XtdY&

I'd presume it was intended to be hyperlinked from the UKC Press Release version of the article but got missed by someone at some point in the process of transferring to UKC (no blame offered at anyone, just suggesting what may have happened).

Website version of the article here:

Thanks spenser.

I am sorry, but I cannot watch that, maybe it is my browser, but it appears as a postcard with a talking stamp.

In reply to Godwin:

It's a slide deck with the picture of the speakers in the corner (I think it moves on from the first slide around 44 seconds).

It looks like it was recorded over Zoom so I don't know if the speakers can be given a bit more presence on screen without them needing to rerecord the presentation (powerpoint's record function creates a similar video in picture thing, but you can manually increase the size of it so you don't feel like the person is talking to you through a telescope. I've popped Dom an email flagging this.

I'll happily blame myself for that one Spenser - I neglected to add the link. Thanks for highlighting, it's just been added.

I've replied to the survey but as I know people will read the responses here, I think it'll be good to highlight that I'm not sure a 6 slide powerpoint is really a suitable document to cover the entire strategy of an organisation the size of the BMC for the next 5 years.

Hopefully this is just an executive summary of the key points, and there will be a properly fleshed out document with a bit more detail to follow.

Hi Ben

Thanks for completing the survey - that's much appreciated! You're right, of course, we're just reaching out to get feedback on this six-pager to make sure we're broadly on the right track. In parallel, we have teams working on the six action areas to deliver the what, when, how details - Once we have the feedback we'll adjust and bring a final version to the BMC AGM in September and publish detailed plans ready to hit the ground running in January 2026.

Meanwhile, if you want to ask questions in detail and give your feedback, there's a great opportunity to do so in person at our BMC Basecamp Volunteer weekend 8–10 August 2025 https://www.thebmc.co.uk/en/basecamp-a-volunteer-gathering

Day entry is free (with climbing, walking and loads of fun stuff alongside the opportunity to interact on the Strategy) or make a weekend of it with subsidised accommodation and a free dinner on the Saturday night. Hopefully see you there!

Cheers, Dom
