Arc'teryx Alpine Academy: 2014 Workshop Schedule Announced

From June 13-15th 2014, alpine enthusiasts of all levels will have the opportunity to learn new skills, hone their techniques and share their passion for the mountains with like-minded people at the Arc’teryx Alpine Academy in Chamonix. Workshops will be led by guides from the Compagnie du Mont Blanc, BMG (British Mountain Guides) and Arc’teryx athletes including Ines Papert, Isabel Santoire, Tanja Schmidt, Stian Hagen and Jacob Slot.

BEGINNER CLINICS: 
> Glacier Preparation 
(€45)
This clinic focuses on walking with crampons and using a piolet, plus roping up & basic techniques for walking on a glacier
> Suunto Navigation Clinic (€45)
Learn all about skilled navigation and orienteering in the mountains 
> Technical Mountaineering Level 1 (€45)
Preparation for basic glacier tours and easy alpine climbs
> Women’s Glacier Tour (€35)
This women-only clinic is to inspire women to a greater sense of self-sufficiency in a relaxed environment. Led by a female guide, participants will experience a spectacular glacier tour on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, crossing a ridge above almost 4.000 metres.

INTERMEDIATE CLINICS:
> Hilleberg Overnight Bivy Course 
(€45)
This course offers the unique experience of an overnight bivy in the Mont-Blanc Massif with two world-class Arc’teryx athletes (Ines Papert & Jacob Slot) 
> Introduction into Alpine Climbing (€95)
Learn from the experts! This clinic will see you practising alpine climbs together with guides and athletes
> First Aid Mountain Rescue (€35)
This clinic will be led by rescue specialists. It starts with theory about first aid in the mountains then puts it into practice

ADVANCED CLINICS: 
> Improvised Rescue on Alpine Climbs (€45)
This is a rock rescue course, which also applies to alpine climbs 
> Alpine Climbing (€95)
Learn from the experts! This clinic will see you practising alpine climbs together with guides and athletes

In addition to the clinics, the seminar night on Friday provides in-depth information covering medical topics, equipment know-how and more. On Saturday night, leading athletes from the alpine world will present their latest films at the Alpine Movie Night. Participants will also have the chance to test the latest gear from the brands involved.
