Rockfax Description
Another of the great Cloggy mountaineering routes, with only one technically demanding section up an often-damp corner. Other than that most of the climbing is straightforward. Start as for Great-Bow Combination.
1) 4c, 45m. As for Great-Bow Combination.
2) 4a, 12m. Follow Great-Bow Combination for 12m metres to the first easing on the rib with a prominent diagonal break just above. Step right onto the slab, passing a flake/spike. Carry on traversing right to the corner and climb the grassy gully to a belay below a groove.
3) 4c, 45m. Climb the groove past an often-wet section, crux, and continue up to gain the corner/groove on the left. Follow this to the first grassy moustache and then take a diagonal line leftwards across slabby rock to a belay in the middle of the Great Slab.
4) 4c, 45m. Carry on in the same vein, moving diagonally left to hit the arete and savour the exposure. There are several possible belays here, the best one is higher up.
5) 15m. Climb the easy but sensational arete to the top and scramble out. © Rockfax

Simon Caldwell 23 Jun, 2018 AltLd O/S In 5 pitches, I led 2 and 4. Other than the start of the first pitch which felt nails (and bold for both climbers) it seemed about Severe at most. The slab pitches were rather disappointing, following a vegetated fault line rather than the slabs themselves - a brief foray onto the slabs above the fault resulted in an anxious few minutes while I worked out how to retreat with the last gear several metres below! A good route with bags of atmosphere but not really a 3 star classic.

cameron_hall 26 Jul, 2014 Lead O/S I made a bit of a mess of Pitch 2, going too high to get on to the rib (and having to back down a bit), and then traversing too high to get to the next belay (making that the definite crux pitch). Great climbing, though! Just a pity the clouds came down when we were near the top, and we missed out on the fabled glorious view from the final arete.

zukator 19 Jun, 2014 Lead rpt An 'adventure day' - rode (and pushed!) bikes up the Llanberis Path (before 9.00 a.m.) and pedalled round to the crag. Did a slow but steady ascent of Great Slab and then a much faster descent back to Llanberis- brilliant! The route does not seem to be getting much traffic, and in places is much more grassy than it used to be. I thought the upper pitches were quite serious due to spaced protection.

martin c 30 May, 2014 AltLd O/S With Rob. I led pitch 1 3 5 and 7 as we added our own pitch by going off route! Rob ended up with pitch 3 (our pitch 4) in the wet corner so climbed the slab to avoid the wet - a very bold lead -certainly not VS. Had whole of Cloggy to ourselves during a long and memorable day. Great first climb at Cloggy even had evening sunshine as we topped out.
