Rockfax Description
A superb pitch with unusual moves on excellent slate. From a block, reach left to a ledge on the left. Swing left and gain the ledge on the left of the arete. Continue up the arete with difficulty until the angle eases. Easier climbing leads to a delicate finish. © Rockfax

UKC Logbook Description
On a new level/sector I would like to call "Ayers Rock" (as it is not quite as far up as Darwin).
The easiest approach to find is from the Darwin Level. From near the concrete blocks on the edge of the Darwin plateau about 100 m before the big gated hydro tunnel descend diagonally L (facing out) to an old horizontal track (could reach this point by traversing along the next level down). Follow the track towards a big boulder. Pass below this and continue across grass and scree to a boulder field on the "Ayers Rock" Level. Descend the boulders and traverse to a nice grassy spot near a ruined hut (fabulous views of the Australia levels). The route starts at a block leaning against the R side of the prominent arete a few m up the scree slope beyond the hut.

A superb pitch with unusual moves on excellent slate. From the block gain a ledge on the L of the arete. Continue up the arete with difficulty until the angle eases. Easier climbing leads to a more delicate finish. (10 bolts + 2 bolt lower off with rings).

harold walmsley 25 Jun, 2013 Lead β First ascent. Gave it 6c+ on the advice of others. Felt 6c to me (think that is my top grade now) so I voted for that (am prepared to be shot down either way). An excellent pitch well worth seeking out (not too far from the top car park).
