Rockfax Description
24m. The striking zig-zag crack is the best known route in the quarry and remains one of Grit's 'big-ticks'. Climb easily to the base of the crack, stuff in some gear and go. Although mighty intimidating, the climbing is a little easier than it appears from below and much of the crack is a useful width. The short horizontal sections offer runners and holds. © Rockfax

Quality, really pleased to get the onsight as this has been on my list for ages. Tried to stack but not really the right position, quality kneejams all over!

One move wonder a bit disappointing, positions are good steep wall

Graeme Hammond 05/Apr Lead β

Led after Andy but placed own gear as Andy stripped it. Great climb, wanted to do this for a while as it looks so cool but slightly disappointed it didn't put that much of a fight up. A couple of layback moves for the crux (no off-widthing needed so why has it made the oftwidth ticklist!?!) and it is much easier above but still steep and great positions, loved bridging round the roof with space below and swinging around abseiling for the gear. Mild E2, miles from E3.

Atmospheric to say the least.. Thunder and lightening all around me and just managed to top out before the heavens opened. Had to rap for the gear and got soaked to the skin. All worth it though - incredible route.

Fantastic sustained lay-backing up this classic crack line. It took a committed effort from me to get it clean. Well done Alice! esp after the rest of your days climbing!

In my onsight attempt I fell off above the horizontal break. After topping out, I climbed on top-rope after Max. At the end of the day, I got on it again and lead cleanly without too much trouble, which was a bit of surprise as I was already tired before starting climbing. I was an inch shorter to climb it easily in 2 places (one of which I fell off at), but it is well manageable with good technique! Fantastic route! E2 5c.

Big cams needed. Nice layback off the crack. lovely climb.

laybacked rather than off-widthing it so kind of cheating.

Steady E2 with a big cam and some jamming skills, reckon it'd feel E3 without. Massive climbing ambition fulfilled to on sight this, and the climbing was as good as it's hyped to be.

Awesome route, knee popped out of place mid-crux, then relocated. Took a hang because my leg felt funny, hurts now. Not that hard, more intimidating with a very commiting feel to each move.
