500m. As the name suggests, a classic alpine style ridge. Consistent grade II across the whole of the ridge. Easy to underestimate the length of this route.

Did one short pitch to start then moved together all the way to the top from there. If i did it again I would only take one rope thus reducing weight and the amount or rope that has to be dealt with when moving together, of course this is only a good idea if you think you are unlikely to pitch much of the route.

Finding the started proved unnecessarily difficult. Moral of the story, check the approach description in the guidebook before thinking you know better! Really good route with loads of great exposure, a little too much in some places since neither mike nor I had much experience in winter placements so ended up unintentionally soloing it all. As the sun came over, the snow started to turn to mush and it was more like swimming and I was quite conscious about not falling off. Great route but one we got away with!

Nice route. Lots of powdery snow on it, but nothing for axes so mainly hooking boulders or torqueing cracks all the way. Plenty of boulders/spikes/threads for slings. After a few pitches tried to switch to moving together... just in time for an unexpected fin-like arete which forced us back to pitching. Surprisingly easy walk in despite all the snow; back down in plenty of time for gondola.

After the first steepening there was much more snow on the route and made for fast going. Airy in places but nice scrambling all the way, a couple of spicy moves but nothing too bad. A traditional route and traditional weather to go with it. 90 minute walk to roughly whether the route was, then another 90 minutes finding it in the clag. Just as we were debating whether to call it a day, the clouds parted briefly and we saw the start about 100m above us. We pitched the whole thing in about 9/10 pitches. Could have moved together on much of it but wanted to play it safe as it was my return to climbing, 6 weeks and 1 day after knee surgery! The gondola closed late morning due to gales so we had to walk down, luckily my knee coped.

A long and committing route and the conditions (lots of unconsolidated powder snow over rock) made for quite a challenging day out. Much scrabbling around for decent axe placements and footholds. The steep buttress pitches felt moderately desperate at a couple of points - pretty run-out and felt like very technical moves for a Grade II! But it all came good and thankfully we topped out before it got dark - unlike other less fortunate parties on the crag. The very airy and horrifically unstable upper ridge was incredible! Must have been in the zone by that point... Mark's first proper winter route, for which a medal is in order...

I cleverly forgot to take any axes so borrowed a single, old axe. Moderately entertaining.

Great day out, conditions much better than expected. Hard slog up and down though as the Gondola was closed.

My first winter climb. Not sure it was Golden Oldy or a ridge to the left. Snow wasn't consolidated but weather was very good (clear and sunny).

Good long day out. Limited visibility made picking the right rib tricky but the weather cleared and we moved together the whole way. Only placed 1 bit of gear - it ended up at the bottom of the route - if anyone finds a No. 8 hex...

We failed to locate the climb the previous day but were camping further down the Allt Daim so had a second attempt. Deep powder covered the ridge which made for a long day. The second time I have climbed this route, an absolute gem.

can't be 100% we were on the right ridge, may have replaced some of the rocky crest with steep snow on the right flank

It snowed all day, a good depth of fresh snow on the ridge getting deeper all the time. Great conditions for this climb which was a real mountaineering adventure
