High Tor is managed by Derbyshire Dales District Council (DDDC) and there is a regular wardening service in operation. There are no major access problems at High Tor, but climbers should take careful note of the following agreed guidelines:
Reason: Nesting Birds
High Tor is a SSSI of extremely high botanical value with some very rare grasses and plants located around the crag. Climbers are requested to be especially careful not to trample grass at the base of the crag and to stick to the established paths so as not to damage plants on the wooded approaches.
Rockfax Description
An eliminate with some good climbing. Follow Robert Brown to the bulge (thread) and power through to an ancient peg. Climb the flake above (peg on Robert Brown) then trend rightwards up the slabby wall to the right of the long bulge. Go over this on the right then move back left to a good flake handhold. Move directly over the bulge and continue up the pocketed wall (thread) until level with the alarming wafer-thin flake on the left. For the full tick, move across to the flake when level with its ear. From the top of the flake, either go right as for Darius, or left and finish as for Robert Brown. Can just about be led on 50m ropes although there is a possible stance on Debauchery. © Rockfax
