UKC User John Cooke Ticks Triple 8.

© Adam Lincoln
UKC User John Cooke has realised a long term climbing ambition by headpointing an E8 trad route. John had been looking to tick the 'triple 8' - an E8, a Font 8A boulder problem and a F8a route for some time and succeeded by headpointing End of the Affair (E8 6c) at Curbar in early November.

John has climbed many routes above F8a, his best effort being Mecca (F8b+) at Raven Tor.

Many UK climbers have reached this triple 8 goal, but the ultimate grade 8 challenge has, as far as we know, not yet been completed:

E8, F8a, Font 8A, M8, Scottish VIII,8, UIAA 8, 8000m.

There is a video of John on End of the Affair on vimeo: VIDEO

John would like to thank Wild Country , Evolv and Metolius for their support.

I'm don't think you are correct there. Stevie famously doesn't perform at altitude.
