Aidan Roberts in Magic Wood, SwitzerlandVideo

In this short film, Arch Climbing have compiled footage of Aidan Roberts on a bouldering trip to Magic Wood, Switzerland. He blasts through 23 classic problems in the granite area, making everything look effortless.

Aidan has had one of the most impressive years of bouldering ever for a British climber, and he's certainly on par with any world-class boulderer. He started his year at Trowbarrow with a rare ascent of Shallow Groove (f8B), before adding his own Font 8C called Outliers (f8C).

The following month, he ticked all of the desperately fingery problems at Badger Cove in a single session. The problems were first climbed by Dan Varian around ten years ago and are certainly not soft touches.

The highlight of his year had to have been climbing his long-term project at the Lad Stones in the Lake District. He spent four years attempting the line which Dan Varian has described as 'the hardest problem in the UK of its style.' Aidan tentatively graded the problem Font 8C/+ and justified the slash grade by modestly claiming he was inexperienced, which no one believes. Time will tell us what the actual grade is but many people suspect the '+' will remain. He named the climb Superpower (f8C).
