Ephyra 8C+ by Will Bosi

After just a few days of effort, Will Bosi has made the fourth ascent of Ephyra, Jimmy Webb's 8C+ boulder in Chironico.

Will flew out to Switzerland last month with the intention of projecting Shawn Raboutou's Alphane (f9A). Since making the third ascent, he has made a series of quick repeats of some of the hardest boulders in the area, including Ephyra (f8C+), Forgotten Gem 8C, and Vecchio Leone (f8B), which he flashed.

Speaking about his experience on Ephyra, Will said:

'happy and pretty surprised to climb this really fun Jimmy Webb boulder in only a couple days! I briefly tried it last year and felt like I was too spanned to do the crux move. Coming back with stronger shoulders I was able to stick the move quite fast and eventually get through it from the ground'.

Earlier this month, Will stated that Honey Badger (f8C+), his peak district boulder that he graded 8C+ at the time, was 'more of a challenge' for him than the font 9A Alphane. With Ephyra coming in at the same grade as Honey Badger, Will had this to say about the relative difficulty of the problems.

'Grade wise I think it (Ephyra) is bottom end 8C+, definitely harder than Forgotten Gem 8C but easier than Alphane or Honey Badger'.

Will's ascent of Ephyra marks the continuation of an incredible year of bouldering, in which he has climbed fourteen boulders at 8C or above, including three at 8C+ or higher.
