Will Bosi flashes The Dagger, 8B+

Will Bosi has flashed The Dagger (f8B+), in Cresciano, Switzerland.

Font 8B+ is the hardest boulder grade to have been flashed, with only seven other climbers having achieved the feat, Daniel Woods, Jimmy Webb, Adam Ondra, Ned Feehally, Florian Wientjes, Tomoa Narasaki, and Jakob Schubert.

Having flashed Charizard 8B+ just eight months ago, Will's flash of The Dagger makes him the first climber to have flashed two 8B+ boulders in the space of a single year.

On the same day as his flash of The Dagger, Will also came close to flashing Dreamtime (f8B+), the grade of which is still uncertain, with some arguing that it should be Font 8C. Will climbed through the crux on his flash attempt, before narrowly missing a hold towards the top of the boulder. He went on to complete the climb on his fourth try.

Sharing the news on instagram, Will said:

'What a crazy day! From getting lost and not being able to find the boulder to flashing The Dagger and then almost flashing Dreamtime! So happy to be be in Switzerland for a couple days!'

Whether The Dagger's 8B+ grade will stand hereafter is yet to be determined, with Will himself having referred to the problem as 8B(+), or V13[14]. Either way, it marks the continuation of a world-class period of bouldering for Will, after he became just the 8th person to climb Font 9A last month.

According to 8a.nu, Will's primary focus in travelling to Switzerland was to attempt to flash Nalle Hukkataival's iconic Off the Wagon (f8B+) in Val Bavona, but the poor weather forced him to seek out other challenges. Fingers crossed for dry weather over the weekend, before Will travels to Arco next week to try Stefano Ghisolfi's 9b+ project, Excalibur.
