Thanks Guy - that bit felt quite spectacular! Good route. The 'via ferrata' bit was fun too.

I was a Uni student in the early 70's and could climb to HVS 5a maybe 5b. Anyway one day I went down to the Main Wall car park on my own looking for someone to climb with. I approached some guy and asked him if he wanted to do a route- I said I'm Dave and he said he was Tony. He asked me how hard I climbed to, I told him and he suggested we do Pink Wall Traverse. I said ok but he'd have to lead the crux. No problem! So we did the route and I found the traverse to be fairly 'interesting' although he just seemed to fly across it. So I thought ok........? When we topped out we had a 'smoke' and a chat. We exchanged numbers and agreed to do another climb sometime. Unfortunately he died in a fall- on the soloing shortly afterwards, so it didn't happen. His name was Tony Wilmott.
