Looks scary

Cracking photo, especially when you "zoom in". I think it works better rotated 90 degrees to the left but everyone has their own opinions.....

Best winter climbing photo on here for quite some time.

Love the different angle on this!

To aerobiee: How can you turn a picture to the left? It is either clockwise or anticlockwise with some parts of the photo moving left and others moving right either way!

I have looked at this photo for a while and for me it is both engaging & frustrating at the same time. I know the location and have stared down into this abyss in summer so I know that it is a steepish gully.
Yet the picture appears to show a climber crawling along the bed of a shallow angled gully - almost a channel.
I think the reason for this is the angular composition, I don't agree that it needs rotating 90 degrees anti-clockwise that doesn't work at all for me but I tried a 45 degree rotation and you get a far greater impression of a steep climb.
I look forward to other thoughts on this.

Keith, I agree on two of your points completely. The picture forces you to make more sense of it than what you initially see. The 45 degree rotation seems to make more sense not only in terms of the revealing the steepness but also the natural lie of the rock. A fantastic shot and worth a 5.

The orientation makes perfect natural sense to me; it is what you would see if you peered over the edge of the gully.

Best photo of the winter can I get a print? or a big file to print my own
