1st vote as a '1', to the voter, why is this a rubbish picture?
andyinglis - 12/Jan/17
Have a 5 Andy, just for inducing a healthy palm sweat!
Brian Pollock - 12/Jan/17
Definitely not a 1, but not a 5 either. If it was a photo of comparable quality of a punter grade III, it would probably be a 3. Should you get extra points for the gnarly route? I don't know. Have a 4!
Robert Durran - 12/Jan/17
Gloomy bum shot. Have a1.5 for being in focus.
alan moore - 12/Jan/17
Being objective (pretty hard when its your own!), if it wasnt my photo I would probably give it a 3.5 / 4. In purely photograph quality assessment its not a 5 for me, but then again I did have 1 hand on a rope!
andyinglis - 12/Jan/17
Shame the debate here has largely been on the photographic merits of the picture which Andy confirms were less important considerations than holding the ropes. For me the ambiance, the obvious technicalities and as Brian says the induced palm sweat all contribute to provide a great armchair impression of part of the route. Not all photos on UKC need to be brilliant since there is an obvious entertaining, imagination and education inducing element to photography and for me this picture has that. Obviously whoever voted a 1 should stick to their armchair to avoid the risk of doing anything more adventurous !
