Midi arete - cliche or not, it's still astoundingly beautiful up there.

Superb.
James Rushforth - 16/Aug/17
Beautiful!
Jamie Hageman - 16/Aug/17
Actually there's enough interest and atmosphere top left to do a crop, maybe vertically, and lose the sunlit arete on the right with most of the people on.
Jamie Hageman - 16/Aug/17
Thanks both. And Jamie for your suggestion, I gave it a try but just don't like it anything like as much, it was an interesting idea worth trying though. I might have another crack at it in black and white.

Thanks. It's not like me to suggest ideas for photos, but couldn't help myself! I just love those misty distant pinnacles - wonderful!
Jamie Hageman - 16/Aug/17
A cracker!
Myfyr Tomos - 16/Aug/17
It's the contrast of the two half's of the photo that does it for me.The atmospheric Peaks on the left contrasting with the starkness on the right.A great pic.

With all those people, must be a MacDonalds near by?

IM - 17/Aug/17
The view from the Midi must be one of the most photographed scenes in Chamonix - yet this one is startlingly different. Absolutely brilliant!

Pity Myfyr's comment has been truncated, but I agree with him that (presumably what he was going to say) that it is the thematic duality of the two halves of the picture that makes it unusually interesting – even if it is a less harmonious whole. The eye bounces back and forth between the mysterious background on the left and the human intrusion on the right. Little ants feeling their way in this colossal landscape.
Gordon Stainforth - 20/Aug/17
Absolutely stunning photo and I agree entirely with Gordon's comments. Not a criticism, but wondering to what extent the "tint" is authentic.
Robert Durran - 20/Aug/17
Marvellous light! Have a 5, even for the Midi arête!
colinakmc - 20/Aug/17
A great pic of the Midi arete!
