Awesome 70's look

I'll be posting a colour version of John on Cloggy Corner. I was not climbing that day, but taking pictures, and appear to have been armed with two cameras or, more likely, both colour and B/W film. Incidentally the picture is not back to front: Bernard had the B on his helmet painted back to front.

I always thought that the Corner was HVS? I know it feels a harder in the wet. I also have some shots from about this time of the Corner. Love the gear!

The "B" on the helmet is perhaps the rune Berkano? Superb portrait of two equally superb climbers. I think b&w photographs have greater impact in some cases than those in colour. Colour can distract from the subject such as in this photo where clothing colours would have done so.

Surely this should be in 'historical'?

One more Gordon;
In about 1962 I came across an old friend in Llanberis with a bandage on his head and his arm in a sling. I asked what happened and he said he was climbing Cloggy Corner and went off route !!!!!!
I still take the piss out of him to this day.

That is just superb (sorry for comment being 2 years too late).

Cutting edge gear. Hexagonals along with the trusty MOACs and especially both carrying Stitch plates. I like the lack of gear, no getting to the top with gear to spare.

Still use my stitch plate!

Sorry to be pedantic, but it was a Sticht plate, and we always pronounced it 'Stick' or 'Sticked' plate. :)
