hi everyone,

im heading round europe this summer, from mid august to mid December, saw the BMG route card for the piz badile and it looks ace. really want to do it, hoping people can point me to routes that are similair in the swiss, french and austria areas (i know there is probably hundreds, but im after the real classics) or routes that a shorter and would be good to use as preparation for a route like the north ridge,

any help is great

Salbit South Ridge, slightly more technical, but shorter route, and easier descent.

Stockhorn South Ridge,as above but with a longer walk in.

Hey, did the North Ridge of Badile last summer.
In the local area there are quite a lot of accessible routes from the Albigna damn, which is one valley East of Badile, and has a tiny cable car up to it. There's a hut + biviing potential around about. There's a pdf guidebook available from Needlesports, but it's not great tbh. Plasir Sud is great, but a bit expensive if you're only there for a couple of days.
The Piz Badile is a pretty long route. The best prep is doing lots of other long routes and getting slick with your partner. But I'm sure you know already...

In reply to robatkinson: The Blanchet (SE) ridge on the Lotschental Breithorn: D on perfect granite. Not shorter that the Badile, but worthwhile. The Jagihorn SW ridge. D-, good granite. This is a bit shorter. Both routes can be done from the Balthschiederklause hut in the Oberland.

The Ober Torberg East Rib. Also good granite, and this is shorter too. Done from the Oberaletsch hut. The Mittler Torberg SE ridge is done from the same hut and is a similar length, but a tad harder at TD-. A third route, also from the Oberalestch, is the Distelberg S rib, D-.

In reply to robatkinson: There are also Ecrins routes that fit the bill. Les Bans N Ridge. Pic Nord des Cavales E Ridge. Stuff on the Dibona. And in Chamonix.

Blanchet route looks great. Any one else done it?

Traverse of Piz Morteratch (Sp?) is a fun PD outing near the Badile.
