I'll be there.

Who else? And what do you fancy getting up to?

I'm keen on some big winter walks.
 Mita 20 Jan 2009
In reply to almost sane: I'm up for that Mr!
almost sane 20 Jan 2009
In reply to Mita:

You're not going to be there, are you Mita?

<Quick e-mail to Rob with apologies>

Carn Mor Dearg Arete?
 Mike C 20 Jan 2009
In reply to almost sane:

Hi Doug, Lesley & I will be there for Sat & Sun, but as she currently has a broken wrist, easy winter walking will be more than sufficient. I may be tempted up something longer or steeper but after months of relative inactivity I'm a tad overloaded so not that bothered.

In reply to almost sane:

I'm 75% sure to be there, awaiting the green light!

I'd be keen to get high and bash around on a III if anyone's up for it. I've been stuck on II's for too long now... need to push up.

That would count as a bg walk! Sounds good.

I'll need to get fitter. But I'm working on that.

I'll be there!

(And you'll be relieved to note that I've sent my salopettes to have the zip mended. :

It always seems such a good idea sitting down here in Englandshire, surprisingly when I get out to the North Face car park plans b to z always seem preferable. Sooner or later it is going to have to be done.

In reply to almost sane:

I might be in the area depending on what my wife is doing at Uni. I'll either be out in the hills trying to do something with snow on or bimbling out on lower level stuff with my daughter. I'm only an hour and a half away so will probably pop through for the day depending on what folk are up to.
Squarf 20 Jan 2009
In reply to almost sane: We will be ther and are always up for anything, long short steep or a snow plod.

 Fidget 20 Jan 2009
In reply to almost sane:

I'm in Aviemore that weekend for a mate's birthday. Kind of assumed it was an invite only thing this year though since it wasn't publicised, although I did get the date off Mark.

In reply to Horse:

That's on my wishlist at some point after seeing it from Aonach Mor, what a lovely feature.

 Anni 20 Jan 2009
In reply to almost sane:

Will be there with pointy things :oD
Bingly Bong 20 Jan 2009

In reply to Sarah_Clough:

I don't think the meet would ever have been exclusive - I know Rob wanted to book the cottages but only 2 were available for one weekend so with both reduced numbers and the restricted weekend his booking was set for him.

I think he said if others wanted to come and meet up and call it the Glencoe Meet, then fairdos, but if the weekend he'd picked wasnt convenient for others, they could have the Glencoe Meet on another weekend?

I know you were on the list, but for some reason, someone said (hearsay Im afraid), that you weren't planning on coming to another Glencoe Meet? Or something along those lines?
 Toby S 20 Jan 2009
In reply to Sarah_Clough:

I reckon we should all gatecrash petestack's house

 Anni 20 Jan 2009
In reply to Bingly Bong:

What you implying!!?? ;oP
 Caralynh 20 Jan 2009
In reply to almost sane:

Nope, having a big birthday meet in Aviemore instead
Similarly to Sarah, I assumed there was no meet this year since no-one publicised it. Regardless of events, I'm sure I will have lots of fun that weekend anyway
Franklin the pedantic cat 20 Jan 2009
In reply to almost sane:

I'll be there.

Currently working on losing weight (I don't think last weekend helped) & getting hill fit.

I too fancy some big walks. Tennis-elbow has moved from right to left this year so still bloody uncomfortable for climbing.

Not going for the full week this year so not intending to take my MTB for just a long weekend.
 Jamie B 20 Jan 2009
In reply to almost sane:

I'll be there. I live there. Might even get the weekend off.

Thought you'd retired from climbing

I too had heard something about it but then everything went quiet. I'm away that weekend anyway *grin* ( just have to break it to the babysitter hee hee
 Alan Taylor 20 Jan 2009
In reply to Mita: Yes I will take a spare pair of flexible crampons, do you have axes?

In reply to Graham:

I'm feeling competitive...

Can we have a competition?

One that I'll win... I don't like losing - it's all too common an occurance for me...
Krav Maga 21 Jan 2009
In reply to almost sane:

I will actally be be there over that weekend as well, staying in the Clachaig. I will look out for you people. Do you wear badges with your UKC names on or something? I'm tall with very short dark hair, thick goattee, and a fairly sizeable nose, if that helps anyone identify me.

Hey Toby, I missed this... but what, mo dhachaidh?

Might let *you* stay in the taigh-beag! :-P

 sutty 22 Jan 2009
In reply to almost sane:

Didn't know it was on, though have tried to contact Rob twice in last month about it. Seems I am not wanted on voyage, bye all.

Doubt I will see you again Doug, so you can avoid my snoring forever now.

In reply to sutty:

it sounds like this one's been organised on the spur of the moment on here rather than by email (my perception from looking in from the outside!)

go along anyway - it looks like everyone's welcome. I'd be tempted myself but <big sigh> I have to go to New Zealand instead.

almost sane 22 Jan 2009
In reply to sutty:
It hadn't been announced before because the weekend hadn't gone through the proper quality control procedures.

Not only was there no up-to-date risk assessment, no media-relations plan as to what spit to put on any epic that may or may not happen (actually, we never have any epics, it being all so safe and well-planned), and the Gant Chart only went down to three levels of detail. But nobody had filled in form B/Z-169! Can you imagine?

Also, it has been hard getting fresh chicken entrails with which to do the divining. So how could we know which date was propitious?

All the time, I was thinking: what's happening about the Glencoe meet?

Then I wondered if there were a wholelot of other people asking the same question, and they, too, hadn't been able to get form B/Z-169 approved, and their chicken entrails were all showing bad karma, so in the end I decided to ignore the fates, ignore HR, and just say: is anybody coming?
almost sane 22 Jan 2009
In reply to sutty:

The alternate hypothesis is: everybody else in the world knew, and we all entered into a conspiracy of silence just to keep you from finding out!
 Sean Kelly 22 Jan 2009
In reply to almost sane: Anyone fancy sharing a car up from Devon. I also have a couple of hut places booked for the week (Sunday-Sunday).

In reply to The brainn:

Its up to you.

If it was an exclusive meet, nobody would have posted it on an open forum.
UKC meets are typically open to all people who use UKC, and to anyone else who is prepared to buy a round.

There will be a general mooching around the Clachaig of people around that time. The secret password is to say: "I'm looking for Douglas because I need to buy him a Dalwhinnie."
