Fantastic line but climbing barefoot with taped up toes? That's sounds extremely unpleasant. The anchors looked rather low in the vid too.

I get what looks like the middle of the film, then the beginning, then it stops. Android tab.

My prediction: after all this big talk by Mason Earle...his friends Sonnie Trotter will just stroll in and repeat it with a week's effort and Alex Honnold will say: hey Mason, should I tie in for this one to make you look good?

I understand belayer, 'Sketchy' Andy Lewis belayed on the 1st ascent using a slackline as a swami belt.

In reply to UKC News: How lucky to be able to hone your skills on such beautiful lines and eventually succeed. The lines there you climb: from impossible to done. The grade? 5.succeeded! maybe even 5.infinity. everyone has there own numeration for infinity.

Very well put together film. Mason is a bit of an arse, but he's got personality and much more watchable than many of the monotone climbers we have to endure. Climb looks painful.

He's not an arse.

> Mason is a bit of an arse,

Why do you say that?
 Bonzkars 18 Mar 2015
In reply to jon: I think he's very watchable and charismatic, but just a bit full of himself. That's probably why I like the film. First time I've seen him on screen.

Climbing with one shoe where?
In reply to aln:

That footage was from a few years ago when he was working the route, not sure if there will be footage of the shoeless ascent!

 aln 18 Mar 2015
In reply to Natalie Berry - UKC:

OK. That's not clear in this report.
In reply to aln:

"Watch a video of Mason Earle working the route in 2013 below." Should have added "with both shoes on"

how do you judge someone as full of themselves if you have only seen a 5 minute video of them?

Now if it'd been with one finger, that would be impressive!
