Swiss climber Dani Arnold has set a new speed record on the North Face of the Matterhorn with a time of 1 hour and 46 minutes, beating Ueli Steck's previous record by ten minutes. Dani climbed the face via the classic Schmid Route.
I'm not a big fan of these speed records though. My style of slow, heavy, bumbling alpine climbing with unplanned bivis and general incompetence is far more gruelling.
