Babsi Zangerl has repeated Scotland's first E9, Dave MacLeod's Achemine, E9 6c, at Dumbarton Rock. Dave made the first ascent in 2001 and as far as I can tell, this was the first repeat!

Excellent news, great to see this route get a 2nd.
Interesting that both Rhapsody and now Achemine received their 2nd ascents by visiting foreign climbers ( and by foreign, I don't just mean up from Sheffield!).

Awesome, about time something as accessible and frequently in condition as Achemine got a repeat.

I wonder if anyone's given any attention to 'Direquiem', which gains the top of Rhapsody from higher on Requiem? We need a Brit on it to see if we've got another E10 or just another measly E9.

Why not? I thought Sonnie Trotter implied it was a more natural 'direct' finish to Requiem than Rhapsody.

Sometimes variations end up superseding their parent route. Not that that's likely to happen here, given the status of Rhapsody, but just because something was done later shouldn't diminish it, especially if it's a more logical line and a worthy climb in its own right. Whether that's actually the case with Direquiem, I've no idea.
