Beware fellow Portland climbers. I came into contact with either a toxic plant or toxic catapillars last weekend and it's caused a severe itchy rash on my back and arm. The doctor confirmed it was an allergic reaction to either a plant or an insect. I did see little hairy catapillars at the base of the crag at Blacknor South last Sunday, and may have come onto contact with some when laying down having a rest! Otherwise it was the high vegetation I walked through that did it, as I was wearing a short sports top as it was so hot. Just keep an eye out so it doesnt happen to anytone else.  Blacknor South

Almost certainly caterpillars. It's the time of year (still) for them .
