He comes across as a humble and convivial guy. Climbing's equivalent to Bruce Lee, Jimi Hendrix, Jonah Lomu or Usain Bolt; generational talents whose shadow will long outlive their careers.

good interview, many thanks rob!

i always enjoy seeing how much adam ondra still has that raw baseline enthusiasm for climbing despite it having been more than a full time job for him for so long. he somehow managed to keep that amateur’s (in the literal sense) perspective through years of being one of the most severely professional climbers we know.

that’s an enviable super power in its own right.

Great interview!

Just out of curiosity, was this before or after he flashed Lexicon?

It was before, he was heading to the Lake District that evening. If it'd been after we'd definitely have asked him about it

In reply to Rob Greenwood - UKClimbing:

An exceptionally well conducted interview that flowed and unfolded beautifully. (I am fearful though that he may not enjoy climbing as much as he thinks in extreme old age. We all change a lot as we age. And not just physically.)

There are plenty of older climbers out there still enjoying their climbing in their dotage, despite all the aches and pains.
