High Tor is managed by Derbyshire Dales District Council (DDDC) and there is a regular wardening service in operation. There are no major access problems at High Tor, but climbers should take careful note of the following agreed guidelines:
Reason: Nesting Birds
High Tor is a SSSI of extremely high botanical value with some very rare grasses and plants located around the crag. Climbers are requested to be especially careful not to trample grass at the base of the crag and to stick to the established paths so as not to damage plants on the wooded approaches.
Rockfax Description
A worthwhile route but never likely to become popular. It has been given 7b but isn't really a sport route. Start as for Decadence, but from part-way across the initial traverse, climb the steep wall and thin crack right, past two bolts. Excruciatingly fingery. Fight up the vegetated gully to find an abseil tree. © Rockfax
UKC Logbook Description
Start as for Decadence but follow the seam/crack, passing two tired looking bolts, into the gully above. The route originally finished in the gully but the in-situ nut lower-off is now long gone.
Note: 1 or 2 pegs may also be missing.
