The original Kodachrome never projected well and was a nightmare to print from in the darkroom...but scanned and converted to B&W it comes to life.

What is the length of the steep bit? I know it was the first climb to be given a 6 at the time!

I thought this was modern until I looked at the tool. A superb photo that really catches the beauty and the spirit.

...and if you look really closely you can just about see that he has a tube pick on his left hand tool. That should date things fairly solidly. Still the only time I've seen one being used.

I also like the way he is not carrying about 40 screws around his waist as do most modern climbers. Real men in those days!
