Ed Bellthorpe recently won the Gogarth Writing Competition. Little did he know that his winning essay would throw him in to a new world...

A world of mischief and mayhem, inhabited by John Redhead, Johnny Dawes, Jim Perrin and many other north Wales misfits. In this tale of adventure and mystery, Ed parts the dark mists of the north Wales scene and catches a brief glimpse in to the minds of some of Britain's craziest climbers.

He also gets a picture of some puffins.

Interested? Then read The Great Puffin Saga, by Ed Bellthorpe...

In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC: Would Edna Bellthorpe be any relation to Edna Welthorpe, Mrs?

Interesting read, and twisty too!

Reminds me of the first time I did The Moon, wrestling with the jutting kerbstones in the leaning final groove in a haze of pumped forearms and sweat filled eyes, Sherri's face popped over the top, peering down the groove - Lord knows how she found it from above.

"I've seen a puffin." says she -

"Nice, but I'm a bit busy at the moment." replies I, as calmly as I could muster.

In reply to Jack Geldard - Editor - UKC: Nice one Ed,

However, it can't possibly have been Pete Robins... buying soap! I can't believe that for a minute

Loved the article, made me chuckle.
