its quite simple, mats to protect the ground is bouldering, mats to protect a fall is highball, an when you use mats in hope that your hips dont become your shoulders is soloing. simples !!

This Ryan Pasqual chap, we know he can climb pretty good but does he have to look so cool while doing it? It just takes the p*ss!

Oh, and who are the Barnsley Virgins? Very intriguing.

"and who are the Barnsley Virgins?"

and where can we find them...?

In reply to Calder:

I'm still not sure climbing with your hood up is cool. As he's ground up'ing an E8 We'll let him off. It was bloody cold that day as well.

One thing I forgot to point out is that all these climbs are done ground up. Big difference to head pointing things with loads of pads.

Apologies for bastardising the E grade system it was really only something that we used to joke about.

In reply to UKC News: Fab film - I like to see Big Ron's routes given the respect they deserve - no bouldering mats (or spotters) for him!

Nice video. I thought there was definately some 'more than' highballing going on (especially at Millstone).
It's truly awe inspiring and amazing to watch the techniques on display!
