Legendary American climber Fred Beckey is set to star in a feature-length film about his rebellious dirtbag lifestyle. A prolific mountaineer in the 1950s and 60s with first ascents to his name all around the world, Fred continues to pursue his passion for climbing today - at the ripe old age of 93 - after 80 years of eschewing fame, sponsorship and family life.
In reply to UKC News: I've met him. While living in North Vancouver, I attended one of his talks with another climbing friend I made in Washington state that's climbed with him, what a great guy.
Excellent trailer, thank you. What a fascinating character, the "Bob Dylan" of climbing. His notebooks look really interesting too; it should be a great film.
