Wyndcliff Quarry Tirpentwys Haresfield Beacon

Here's my 2p for the Wye Valley and going into South Wales. You can climb here in warm sun even on the coldest days of winter.

I've heard also, Brean down can be a Suntrap along with some of Portland.

Any suggestions? any Irish gems also, I fancy a trip across sometime.

Been bolted, *and* stopped raining? Nah.

Easy to chase the sun at Llanymynech too, even in the depths of winter.

Kirrie. Not worth travelling for, though.

Provided its not too windy (or if it is go to the leeward side) Portland (virtually all of it).  It also seems to have the habit of sticking out from under the shit weather on the mainland.  The number of unexpectedly good days when the forecast was iffy seems a lot higher to me than all of the inland crags I've sat and looked at through a wet windscreen

Obviously Malham, it's the UK's best sun trap

Not quite malham but chapel head can be a bit of a sun trap especially when the leaves have cleared from the trees!

Red Wall. Not bolted, but largely rain proof!

(Not sure it's a premiership location though...)

In addition -OP asking about suntraps - it skulks in dense trees and faces east!

New Quarry in Avon Gorge would catch the sun like a total boss.

Ansteys. You'll believe you're in spain on a sunny day, even in January.

Horseshoe main wall, does that whole sunny, worn out, Costa Blanca vibe.

I climbed at Swanage once on Christmas Day. It was so warm on the crag I ended up having to climb in shorts and a vest. Although not sport I imagine nearby Portland would be the same if you pick the right day.

Malham can be OK late in the season. The Obsession ledge is probably best as it's higher so in the sun for longer.

Some of the Peak quarries can be OK. Little seepage and plenty of sun: Horseshoe, Darlton 2, Halldale etc.

Swanage is apparently the sunniest place in the UK. Hedbury or Dancing Ledge should work.

Hedbury

Dancing Ledge

If you look hard enough there's a bolt!

In reply to Oogachooga:

Most of the sectors at Giggleswick North and South get the winter sun. They also have fairly new bolts and a good cross section of grades from 5 to 7c+. Unfortunately   the harder routes in the Hollywood Bowl seep for most of the winter.

North Berwick Law! You can often sit there in the sun and watch the bad weather blow past.

Would 100% be worth the trip up from the SW as well ;p
