Okay, think of this way. When, while climbing, do you ever have to grip a vibrating ball for minutes at a time?
Think about it from a sports science point of view. The way you use your muscles when gripping a powerball bears very little relation to the way you use them when climbing. Compare that to training with a fingerboard, where you are training the muscles in exactly the same way as they are going to be used.
The science behind this concept of specificity training is established and applicable to all sports, not just climbing, and there is countless amounts of literature to back it up. Plus, like all good science, it makes sense, when you think about it a bit.
Anyway, there's no real harm in using a powerball, and it's not as is they're very expensive. So if you or anybody else likes using them, then more speed to your wings.

I'm delighted to hear it. Does it have a good search facility? (Or perhaps more pertinently, do people use it?)
