Your profile says you're based in Nottingham, so you're only a very short squirt up the M1 from the eastern side of the Peak District. Maybe try Horseshoe Quarry?
Alternatively, buddy up with someone who has a trad rack - offering to do the driving or buy the beer often helps - and enjoy the delights of the gritstone season. Same general area (off the M1 at J29), but much better scenery than some scruffy quarry and you'll learn much more in terms of rad gear-placing skillz as well. :
