Hello. I'm looking for suggestions please for diff climbs in Scotland this weekend when conditions will be wet.

I'm considering Crystal Ridge (Summer) (D) on Ben Macdui, which is a bit of a walk in. And The Great Ridge (Summer) (D) on Garbh Bheinn in Ardgour, which apparently has a sketchy approach even on a lovely dry day.

I've already been up East Buttress (Summer) (D) which was a brilliant day out.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Your central belt based?

Similar length of drive south and you could do Corvus (D). Supposedly it's traditional to do in the rain.

Quiver Rib (D).  Smashing wee climb.

That was my first thought. Easy approach and jug hauling, so not too bad in the wet.

Also Tower Ridge and Lagangarbh Chimney.

For something slightly easier, North Buttress on the Buachaille, or slightly harder, I've enjoyed Deep Cut Chimney on Hell's Lum in these conditions.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. It was the last route I did, 2 years ago, in thick clag and heavy rain. My mate and I did a lot of this sort of nonsense many years ago though this time we forsake plastic boots for rock boots with thick socks.

North Buttress on the Buachaille isn't Diff but it gets diff in user ratings on UKC and is great fun and fine in the wet. Not sure how D Gully Buttress is in the wet too but it seemed OK.

I believe The Chasm is supposed to be done in the rain too (or at least it makes little difference because you are climbing a waterfall anyway (not dif though).

Pinnacle Ridge on Sgurr Nan Gillean?

Can vouch for Great Ridge of Garbh Bheinn.

All the Glencoe stuff is OK, having blocky flat or incut holds.

Not sure I'd go for granite in the rain, although Squareface was alright. Crystal Ridge is definitely not worth the effort of getting there.

Thanks Alan.

The Great Ridge on Garbh Bheinn looks brilliant.

The approach by steep grassy slope or slabby scramble sounds a bit concerning though, given it will likely be wet.

We did an old version of the direct start up a long, straight groove toward the left end of the lower tier. Two pitches of VDiff. The steep grass wasn't a big deal (although, I'll admit little memory of it...)

Maybe not if it means crossing the plateau in the cloud and rain! Lovely route on a nice day.
