EB Split Gear News

EB, the grandfathers of all rock shoes, have been quietly reinventing and re-establishing the brand over the past 6 years, under the guidance of Fred Tuscan.

Fred bought the brand following his retirement from dominating the world cup lead climbing circuit for many years. Since revolutionising climbing footwear in the forest of Fontainebleau with his original climbing shoe Fred has now developed completely new products for the modern climbing scene.

EB Split

EB are revolutionising how shoes fit with the new "EB Split" model this autumn / winter.

  • The Split is a single Velcro closure performance rock shoe
  • Semi asymmetric last
  • With a slight downturn (but not full banana!).
  • It features climbing's best kept secret... the very sticky and very durable Daytona Rubber sole.
  • And 2mm midsole, offering a supportive but flexible fit from first fitting,

"out of the box positivity and comfort!"

EB are also using a new synthetic upper – Evo Microfibre. This is very "skin friendly" and has a element of give to aid fitting. They aren't a particularly narrow fit but fitting should be started from shoe size, not from your previous rock shoe sizing. They are available from sizes 35 – 46 including European ½ sizes which helps with a more refined fit.

An excellent addition to the performance rock shoe roster is not the only strong characteristic of the EB Split. 85% of customers have different sized feet... The Split will be available from all retailers in individual sizes, for left and right. Essentially it isn't a pair of shoes but two individual products – left shoe and right shoe!

Try them at a local boot demo in Dec -

  • Bloc Climbing
  • Castle Climbing
  • Yonder Wall
  • More events to follow in January..

Is it a 'spot the deliberate mistake' contest? If not congratulations on your innovative spelling of Fountinbleau (sic).

Really - and this from a brand famously associated with that very area.

Exactly. The first paragraph is just bizarre. Does ukc not have editors?
