NEW FROM OSPREY - Mutant Nimsdai 90 Gear News

The new Mutant Nimsdai 90 mountaineering pack from Osprey has been designed together with Nepalese elite mountaineer and Osprey Ambassador Nimsdai Purja MBE.

No mountaineering pack has been tested quite like Osprey's new limited edition Mutant Nimsdai 90. With a streamlined, close-to-body fit, this pro-level pack was put to the ultimate test by Nimsdai and his team on their historic ascent of K2 in winter 2020/2021, proving capable of carrying bulky and heavy loads, whilst delivering exceptional stability and comfort in the harshest of environments.

Boasting a very specific feature set required for the mountains, Mutant Nimsdai 90 is built with reinforced high-tenacity nylon for extreme durability, an external shield pocket to hold crampons or snow shoes, and multiple lash and haul points to ensure equipment such as ropes, ladders and other critical kit is easily accessible, whilst remaining super secure.

Osprey's commitment to performance doesn't compromise on sustainability either. Mutant Nimsdai 90 is constructed with bluesign®-approved recycled fabrics, delivering excellent durability in a lightweight and low-impact package.

Nimsdai Purja is an incredible force; an extraordinary mountaineer who, because of his training, mindset and sheer determination, is capable of achieving things beyond even the most experienced climber.

"Nims is the dream of a product development team - he knows exactly what he needs and wants in a pack. Together we've designed the Mutant Nimsdai 90 to be the best of the best in terms of fit, comfort, durability, features and performance." Adam Alder-Cox, Product Line Manager, Osprey Europe.

"Only those who dare to push their limitations can achieve the impossible. Don't limit yourself and don't let anyone limit you either." Nimsdai Purja MBE.

NIMSDAI LATEST ACHIEVEMENTS

2019 Project Possible

On the 29th October, Nimsdai became the fastest person on earth to climb all 14 of the world's highest 8,000m peaks in under 7 months. The previous record was 7 years, making Nimsdai a true world record breaker.

2021 K2 Winter

Nimsdai was amongst the first team to ever summit K2 in Winter and the first to do so without O2; a feat regarded by many as not only impossible, but also one of the greatest and most difficult mountaineering challenges of all time.

2022 World Records

Nimsdai smashed two world records in 2022, for summitting three higher than 8,000m peaks - Everest, Lhotse and Kanchenjunga - in 8 days, 23 hours and 10 minutes without oxygen; and for completing the Everest to Lhotse traverse without oxygen in just 26 hours.

"Since Project Possible, I have always had Osprey on my back. High altitude mountaineering requires skill and a strong reliance on kit; my pack needs to comfortably support significant weight, carry critical equipment securely and perform in the most gruelling of terrains. It is, for this reason, I am proud of what we have created with the Mutant Nimsdai 90 – it's THE ultimate workhorse backpack, able to withstand every challenge." Nirmal Purja

A year and a half of design and testing, four prototypes and numerous high-altitude climbs, to build a pack fit for a multiple mountaineering world record holder. In the latest episode of the Osprey Podcast, Osprey spoke to the legend himself, Nimsdai Purja, about his involvement in the Mutant Nimsdai 90 creation process, his must-haves for the pack and how life has changed since the release of his epic Netflix documentary, 14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible.
