Friends are the most iconic protection ever made. Wild Country is now introducing the new Offset Zeros – the ultimate weapon for wild climbing adventures and thin flared cracks. With among the narrowest head widths on the market and effective flexible stems, the new Offset Zeros complete the Wild Country range of Friends. 

Wild Country has always made equipment that supports the pioneering of new climbing standards. Our products are involved in the development of major free ascents on big walls all over the world. Smaller cams have proved invaluable for these routes, but as we experimented with our own designs we saw there was an issue to be solved. Axle/termination constructions basically hadn't moved on and remained a barrier to miniaturisation. Now we are taking cams to the next level – with real micro sizes.

Traditional cam design had been restricted by the need to achieve the maximum strength possible to meet international standards. We went back to basics, by asking climbers to build a wish list, from their perspective, for cutting edge performance. During these conversations size, weight, and flexibility were the key elements, while interestingly, strength seemed to matter less as long as they were, in climber parlance, "strong enough". Moreover, irregular cracks and non-uniform placements often outnumber perfect, parallel cracks.

Following years of development, our engineers have provided a solution. Introducing the new Offset Zeros for solid holding power in small offset placements and irregular cracks that won't take normal cams. The ultimate weapon for pin scars and flares, this micro offset version of the iconic Friend has one of the narrowest heads on the market, which means it fits nicely in shallower grooves with its slightly adapted (17.6°) version of the original and definitive (13.75°) constant camming angle.

Engineered with a flexible single axle, stainless steel termination swage, and one of the best expansion ranges going, it comes in five sizes for simpler racking and faster selection. We machined the extruded aluminium alloy lobes with a radical design to ensure maximum friction, minimum weight and reduced walking.
