Mad Rock Climbing Shoes Gear News

Mad Rock's goal has always been to offer climbing shoes with advanced design and materials at a fair price. The 2019 / 2020 range still holds true to this philosophy. Mad Rock shoes combine technical features, with above average durability, at a competitive price.

All Mad Rock shoes use their proprietary Science Friction rubber and all are built with durability as well as performance in mind. Here are a few models from the current Mad Rock range.

The Drone is Mad Rock's highest performing shoe. Available in both a high volume, wider fit and a lower volume and narrower fit, the Drone has a down turned last that makes it suitable for steep, technical ground.

A large area of rubber covers the front of the shoe which helps with toe hooks and funky moves and the soft wrap-around tongue provides great comfort. A 3D molded heel is great for both smearing and grabbing.

RRP - £120

Shark 2.0

The aim with the Shark 2.0 was to combine performance and comfort. It's an aggressive shoe with a down turned last for steep ground. However, the glove-like fit gives great comfort levels not normally associated with such a technical shoe.

A large area of rubber over the top of the foot is a great tool when toe hooking. Science Friction rubber is proven and reliable and the Shark's build quality is better than most. The perfect shoe for climbers looking for high performance with comfort levels to match.

RRP - £110

Lyra

The Lyra is a women's specific do everything technical shoe. The shoe's last is moderately asymmetrical and combines technical performance and all-day comfort. Features include a soft, vegan friendly synthetic upper with double Velcro straps for good adjustability.

The 3D molded heel fits great and hooks with the best of them. Like many Mad Rock shoes the Lyra has a lot of rubber across the toe area and top of the foot to help when toe hooking.

RRP - £100

Another shoe that's available in both a wide, high volume (positive) and narrow, low volume (negative) last. This increases the chances of getting a really good fitting shoe for both men and women. The Pulse is an all round shoe aimed at mid grade routes and all day comfort.

The Pulse has a breathable mesh upper and an EVA insert in the heel for nice plush feel. The lacing system is excellent - it's highly adjustable and locks down on the foot firmly and evenly.

RRP - £85

Drifter

A really great value shoe, the Drifter manages to provide high build quality and all day comfort at an excellent price. The moderately asymmetric shape gives good performance but above all great comfort. This makes the Drifter perfect for all-day sessions at the wall, easy bouldering or long mountain routes.

RRP - £70

Mad Monkey 2.0

The Mad Monkey is a highly adjustable kid's climbing shoe. Recently updated to have two rear closure straps for even more size adjustability, the new system also reduces pressure on the heels when the shoe is cinched tightly.

Constructed with stretchy SynFlex upper and the R2 rand system for ultra-comfort, the Mad Monkey is perfect for little climbers who's feet are still growing.

RRP - £50
