Do you want to help NEPAL?

In April 2015, the devastating earthquake in Nepal claimed more than 3,600 lives.

In order to help rebuild after the earthquake, Fizan have introduced the ‘Nepal’ pole and for every pair sold, they will donate €1.00 which will go directly to those in need.

Contructed from 6013 aluminium, the Nepal pole comes with a dual-density rubber handle and an extended foam grip. The carbide tip offers fantastic durability and for all kinds of terrain and the rubber ferrule gives greater grip on paved surfaces. The two sizes of basket, (50mm and 90mm), ensure this is a great pole for year-round use.

Priced at only £40 per pair, the Nepal poles offer excepional value and will help make a much needed contribution to the eathquake appeal.

So for every set of £40 poles they sell, they will donate 73p. I think this is mean, opportunistic and utterly meaningless. If they were serious about making any impact on this human tragedy they would be donating all the profits from each sale of this cycnically named "Nepal". As it is, I'm mainly contributing to the profit margins of Fizan (est 1947) which I'm not interested in doing. Is this just a sly marketing tool?

Interesting to know what the profit margins are on such a product once production and distribution, retailers margin and VAT are taking in to account. It may well be as little as 73p.

I absolutely agree with everything youve written there. It comes across as crassly opportunistic marketing. One Euro per set of poles ? I wonder what the sales forecast on these poles is ? Possibly not that many. It would have been much better for them just to donate a few thousand Euros and get on with it.

If their business model is so poor thay can only make 73p per set of poles then I'm amazed they've been in business for 70 years. Maybe they sell millions per year. It would be interesting to have someone from the company come one here and explain their position.

Do you want to help NEPAL? In April 2015, the devastating earthquake in Nepal claimed more than 3,600 lives. Really ?Well thats good news as most people have been led to believe more than 9000 were killed (probably quite a bit more) and over 20000 injured. Youve already helped Nepal by significantly bringing the casualty lists down Seems like the earthquake isn't the only disaster with this advert
