New Outdoor Research Men and Women's Diode Jacket?

© Outdoor Research

When facing extreme weather in isolated locations or the bone chilling dank of a British winter, seriously versatile insulation is in order. Meeting the demand for water-resistant warmth in variable conditions, the new Diode Jacket from Outdoor Research offers the best of both synthetic and down insulation, with a hybrid mapped construction that uses each fill to it’s best advantage.

The body of the Diode is stuffed with a 70% DWR-treated down/30% PrimaLoft® blend of insulation that traps heat in the nastiest conditions. In areas most exposed to the weather and/ or compressed under a harness – the shoulders, hood and waist – the Diode uses 100% PrimaLoft® Gold insulation, further protecting from the elements.

Will Sim, Outdoor Research UK sponsored climber, has been putting his to the sword over the past year and say’s, "The Diode has become my mid-weight insulator of choice. To wear, it's much lower bulk than a big no-holds-barred down jacket with more fill, making it much better for climbing in." Keen to stress it’s versatility he added, "I've skied in it, worn it down to -20 in Alaska, and recently packed it instead of a sleeping bag in case something went wrong on a "Nose in a day" mission on El Cap." Considerably more functional than a belay parka, the Diode answers the call for durable, weather resistant warmth that can handle being exposed to a typical British day out. Invest in the next generation of insulation now.

Possible late contender for the most awful bit of marketing blurb of 2015? Reading that made my teeth itch.

It'd be nice to feel superior, but we have plenty of greased marketing weasels of our own these days. Anyway, another thing.. What the f*ck kind of a name is "Diode" for a jacket? Do they also do Transistor trousers?
