Rab Alpha Flux Gear News

In 2016, Rab released the Alpha Direct, an active insulation piece which utilised Polartec's new Alpha Direct Insulation to strip away the inner lining of an insulating jacket, producing a piece that was both highly insulating and highly breathable. Carrying on from the success of the Alpha Direct design, Rab are now releasing the Alpha Flux, a lighter, faster cousin of the Alpha Direct.

A New Breed - The Alpha Flux Jacket from Rab on Vimeo.

Lined with the lighter Alpha Direct 90 insulation, the Alpha Flux is an ideal insulating outer layer in warmer conditions or, when the temperature drops or the wind picks up, it can convert easily to a mid-layer, helping to maintain a stable, comfortable microclimate thanks to its highly breathable and fast wicking fabrics.

A more dynamic jacket than the Alpha Direct, the Alpha Flash also boasts the stretch thumbloop cuffs of the Alpha Direct, but utilises an outer constructed from a combination of woven polyester and carefully tailored stretch fleece side panels. This design gives excellent freedom of movement and, combined with its breathability, makes it an ideal insulation piece for climbing; perfect for cold days on the grit.
