Red Chili Round-up - Magnet, Spirit, Knee Pads and Jamming Gloves Gear News

© Red Chili

Red Chili have released a number of new products throughout 2021, but here's a quick overview of some of the highlights - all of which are in store and available to order now.

Magnet RRP £130

The MAGNET increases your attractive force when sport climbing or on multi-pitch routes. It is a performance-oriented climbing shoe that also offers outstanding comfort. The newly developed RC-TENSION + midsole covers the entire sole and comprises two combined midsoles to offer the perfect balance of sensitivity and support when standing on small footholds. The new last combined with the sock-like upper design ensures that the MAGNET still remains comfortable even when worn for longer periods. The tongue is made from breathable knitted fabric comprising recycled yarn.

Spirit RRP £110

A climbing shoe that offers both comfort and performance. Our 'luxury classic' not only feels great when in a climbing centre but also enables you to enjoy every minute of long day tours in the mountains, even on the 23rd pitch. The Impact Zone wedge on the heel cushions your step and provides comfort over a long period of time.

Spirit LV RRP £110

The big brother's little sister. The SPIRIT LV is made using a modified ladies' last to fit perfectly with the specific anatomy of the female foot.

Kneerock RRP £40

In cooperation with Red Chili athlete Kim Marschner, we have developed a knee pad that allows a particularly high level of sensitivity when placing kneebars. The U-shaped padding further enhances the performance. The tried-and-tested RX-1 ALLROUND rubber with a thickness of 2 mm offers additional grip without being bulky and annoying. To optimize the connection between the KNEEROCK and the leg, the inside is made from non-slip neoprene. The technical, anatomically adapted shape preserves the freedom of movement while climbing. A symmetrical fastening system enables the KNEEROCK to be adjusted as required and put on with even pressure.

Available in two sizes

Jamrock RRP £25

The JAMROCK gloves have been specially designed for crack climbing. The tried-and-test RX-1 ALLROUND rubber (1 mm) on the outside provides extra grip while also protecting the back of the hands against injuries when jamming them into cracks. The inner lining is made from durable microfiber covered in a silicone print to optimize the adhesion between the gloves and the back of the hands.

Available in XS, S, M, L, XL

It is just a shame that I cannot find a shop that stocks these quality products (I have worn chilli shoes for many years!) I would like to try on some of the new models of shoe, but object to having to go online. I would much prefer to use a 'bricks and mortar' store.

Come on Red Chilli, get a store to stock a decent range of your products here in, or near the Peak district. If you already have one please tell us where it is. The last store I visited, which was listed on the Red Chilli site, didn't sell Chillis and insisted that another brand was what I really needed. (Even though they were the wrong shape for my feet, and uncomfortable, very expensive, and the store recommended a size (2 UK sizes below my regular climbing shoe size!) that crippled, even just putting them on in the store.)

Where is the kneepad in stock? I don't find it anywhere online!

I suspect they're trying, but it's a tough market out there - especially at the moment.

That said, I'll send them an email and see if I can get a comprehensive list of stockists. I've no doubt that they'll be encouraged to hear that the demand is out there.

It sounds like they're on back order at the moment, but are - at least on paper - due in any day now, so watch this space.

I would make sure you have a try first.

I had some old spirit IZ shoes that were good and I then bought some newer ones unseen, of the same size thinking they would be the same. The fit of the newer ones is much higher volume in the toe box and the lowest strap has moved up the shoe so they are harder to tighten well across the toes.
