Rab Strata Hoodie

The Rab Strata Hoodie is a multi-award winning insulated jacket which can be used across a much wider range of temperatures and conditions than traditional models.

At its heart is Polartec's newest insulation technology, Polartec Alpha. It provides a similar amount of warmth to other synthetic insulation but, crucially, it is also able to breathe.

Our test team were amazed at how they could walk in to a winter route, climb it and walk off without having to change their layering system. It has even been used on winter trail runs with great results.

To keep the garment as breathable as possible, as a whole, the fabrics surrounding the Polartec Alpha are as air permeable as the design allows. The tried and tested Pertex Microlight outer is light and durable and a combination of inner fabrics are body mapped to maximise airflow. A light mesh is used where possible and a woven nylon fabric is used in high wear areas and where clothing layers tend to bind up. No insulation is used at all in the underarms to help maintain a comfortable temperature at all times.

Careful attention has been paid to small features such as the cuffs, which are semi-elasticated for comfort and to reduce bulk. The over-or-under helmet-compatible hood is bound with Lycra, for the same reasons. A mini quick release buckle can be used to keep the hood out of the way when working hard.

With the Strata Hoodie synthetic insulation no longer needs to be confined to belay duty and static use.
