Scarpa Chimera Gear News

The all new Scarpa Chimera is the pinnacle of modern climbing shoe design and innovation. Designed by the legendary Heinz Mariacher the Chimera is built to perform at the highest level for climbers tackling both routes and boulders.

Scarpa Chimera

Built on the same last as the popular Scarpa Drago, the Chimera features a lace up system which creates a vacuum like fit thanks to the two arms which extend from the upper to the laces. This gives greater pull power to the lace system and means you can remove any volume from the shoe.

The surround wrap technology rand around the toe means the whole area around the toe is wrapped in Vibram XS Grip 2 rubber, which gives great toe hooking ability.

Underneath the forefoot there is a TPS plastic insert which gives great support for the toes when pushing down hard. When smearing it extends out, which increases the surface area of the rubber providing better grip.

The heel of the Chimera is hand constructed and also uses Vibram XS Grip 2, the heel is stiffened with a similar insert to the forefoot of the she, and this provides maxiumum friction when heel hooking.

The Chimera is recommended for steep boulders and routes, and excels in sensitivty and edging.
