© Berghaus

Berghaus has introduced a new range of high performance lightweight waterproof summer jackets, using leading fabric technology. The Extrem Paclite and Fastpacking jackets are designed for fast-moving alpine climbing and backpacking respectively, offering low weight, carefully considered features and design, and packability. The new jackets complete the summer Extrem shell range, joining the new Hyper 100, the world’s lightest 3L waterproof. Between them, the three styles can cater for any summer outdoor adventure.

The Extrem Paclite
is a serious alpine shell, made out of waterproof and breathable bluesign® approved GORE-TEX® Paclite fabric. Weighing only 320g (men’s medium)/300g (women’s 12), the jacket incorporates a technical and dynamic cut to deliver excellent freedom of movement while climbing or scrambling.

Key features include: Fully adjustable climbing helmet compatible hood; internal stash pocket that doubles up as a handy stuff sac; two zipped, venting hand pockets that are accessible while wearing a pack or harness; an internal ’phone specific pocket to keep a mobile device secure while on the move; and bonded cuff tabs with Velcro fastenings. Underarm lift and articulation through the elbows enhances performance and comfort while reaching high during a climb and high quality seam engineering improves the Extrem Paclite’s durability. The jacket retails at £220.

The Fastpacking jacket is a companion style to the Extrem Paclite, designed for multi-day backpacking in the mountains, when kit has to be totally reliable, durable and effective during extended use. Weighing in at only 250g (men’s medium)/200g (women’s 12), the jacket is made out of Berghaus’ own high performance waterproof and breathable Hydroshell® Elite fabric, twice as strong as other typical 2.5 layer materials.

Features include: A trail hood that can be easily adjusted with one hand and also offers rear adjustment; two zipped venting pockets that are compatible with a rucksack; and adjustable cuffs and hem. The Fastpacking jacket can be easily packed away into one of its pockets for compact storage and retails at £190.

The Extrem Paclite and Fastpacking jackets are available from www.berghaus.com and selected specialist outdoor retailers.
