Environmental Responsibility with EDELRID Gear News

© Edelrid

The term environmental sustainability is massively overused in the world we live in today. Unfortunately, no matter how hard we try, manufacturing new products will never be sustainable.

Here at EDELRID we have shifted our mindset on this, the current goal for a manufacturer should to be responsible. Recognising what we're doing, acknowledging the inevitable impact we have on the environment and trying our best to reduce this as much as possible

EDELRID's Climb Green label is a dynamic, internally developed label for products that currently fulfill the highest standards of responsible design and production on the market in their respective product group.

'Dynamic' means that the product's status can change. As soon as another product becomes available on the market that fulfills a higher standard with regards to responsible design and production, our product loses the Climb Green label. Despite this, it naturally retains all of its properties and remains a product with a responsible background from both social and ecological perspectives.

By using the label, we want to give our customers and users transparent information about which of our products fulfill the highest standards and where other options may now exist.

If you would like more information on our philosophy behind Climb Green, check out our manifesto!

MOE 3R (£60 RRP)

The MOE 3R is the first climbing harness made almost entirely from recycled materials.

The abrasion protection of the tie-in points, the load-bearing yarn, the slide block buckle and the indicator yarn are the parts of the harness that are not recycled. In order to maximise the proportion of recycled material, a special polyester felt is used as the carrier material instead of foam.

Check out a full review of the Moe 3R here!

  • Outer fabric made from bluesign® certified materials
  • All textile materials made of polyester are recycled, including the padding
  • Single-origin polyester in all textiles for simple reintegration into the recycling process
  • Four symmetrical gear loops and two attachment options for ice screw clips
  • Central loop with a kernmantle construction
  • Slide block buckle for comfortable and secure fastening of the harness
  • Parallel tie-in points on hip and leg loop stays with textile abrasion protection made of HMPE
