For the super organised amongst you, this article will be about 2 months too late. However, if like me, you're still yet to purchase a single gift then it may be worth a read! We all know what climbers truly want is decent weather, but a new carabiner that will stay in the packaging until mid Feb is also pretty good!
Check out the article below for some gift ideas at every pricepoint. If nothing takes your fancy then you can always stick to the classic gift of some socks and a chocolate orange!
PINCH (RRP: £95)
A completely new belaying experience!
The Pinch is the first device on the market that can be attached directly to the belay loop of the climbing harness, without the need for a carabiner.
Eliminating the carabiner provides an increased span, allowing the belayer to pay out 20-30cm more rope at once. Attaching directly to the belay loop also removes a potential point of failure, the carabiner, from the safety chain.
The Pinch has so many features, it's the ideal excuse to escape the in-laws on Christmas Day and lock yourself away to 'read the manual' in peace.
JAY & JAYNE (RRP: £60)
The Jay (male proportion) & Jayne (female proportion) are the ideal choice for an all-round harness.
Coming in a variety of colours with large size ranges, they are ideal for any level of climber. Adjustable leg loops and an easy-to-center tie-in point enable the harness to be quickly and conveniently fitted to size.
Whether you're trad climbing, sport climbing, winter climbing or abseiling down chimneys the Jay and Jayne will be up to the job!
ARAMID CORD SLING 6MM (RRP: £23 120cm)
Our best-selling sling is back!
Sewn sling made of high-strength aramid. Aramid delivers a significantly higher breaking strength than conventional slings. The stiffness also makes them ideal for threads.
Struggling to think of a Christmas related joke for these. So, in summary they're good slings and you should buy some!
NINETEEN G CARABINER (RRP: £10)
Weighing in at just 19g (never would have guessed that), the Nineteen G is the lightest carabiner in the world - and makes no compromises on strength.
They also look pretty cool. Load of baubles broken? Hang some of these on the tree, voilá!
HERKULES BOULDER BAG (RRP: £30 RRP)
Large spacious chalk bag with a zipped pocket and brush holders. Thanks to the flat bottom it is able to stand on it's own.
Chalk, chocolate, those weirdly small bottles of whisky that people buy you, it's the ideal storage solution!
Hopefully this article gave you a few gift ideas for the climber or climbers in your life! If not, then please refer back to paragraph two.
Lastly, we'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year from everyone at EDELRID UK. Happy Climbing ya' filthy animals!
