Boreal Lynx and Lynx Womens

© Boreal

Boreal Lynx is the consummate all-rounder. Featuring a subtly downturned last shape and ultra sticky Zenith™ rubber, Lynx is just as happy padding up a friction slab as it is standing on micro edges. Such versatility makes this the perfect “do it all” shoe.

The last shape has evolved from a previous version of our popular Lynx model, with a wider forefoot and slimmer heel offering a secure and comfortable fit for the average foot. We have also added a women’s specific last shape, designed to fit the contours of a lower volume foot.

The upper consists of a premium quality unlined split leather, with padded neoprene tongue. This works in conjunction with our full length lacing to lock the foot in place in comfort.

Our V2 Rand™, a 2-part rand that tensions a much larger area of the shoe, gives ultimate heel fit.

The medium-soft midsole and marginally downturned last shape combine to produce excellent edging performance, while our super-sticky Zenith™ rubber provides friction on even the most delicate slab.

Boreal Lynx is a precise, sensitive and comfortable shoe. It is ideal for vertical to moderately overhanging terrain, and is the perfect option for those wanting one shoe for everything.

Speaking in general, is it even possible to have an all rounder shoe? Surely, the same shoe is not likely to perform for both short sport climbing and all-day multi-pitch? Just curious as "comfortable and downturned" shoes (Evolv Shamans - didn't have any others at that time for trad) made my feet numb on a semi-hanging belay. Less aggressive and/or roomier shoes don't perform that well while heel-hooking.

Hi PPP. We feel it is possible to have a good all-rounder. The Lynx shape offers good levels of performance across a range of situations. While it is true that the more down-turned offerings available are likely to perform better on steeper rock, the Lynx still performs well in these situations. Similarly, while shoes such as Joker or Silex are very comfortable for long mountain routes, the Lynx shape is sufficiently comfortable to stand being worn for long periods of time. Obviously this depends on the shape of your foot, but following on from the feedback we have had so far from customers, reviewers and our team climbers, our opinions have been reinforced. We are running demos at walls around the country, I invite you to come along and try them for yourself to see what you think. Details on our Facebook page.
