Please use this thread to post moderating requests, problem crags and suggestions. If you do post about a crag then please use the Logbooks 'Insert crag link...' box above the reply box so that a link is included which makes things lot easier to sort than if just a crag name is written.
Existing Moderators
If you moderate a crag but find yourself ignoring the update emails, or you have lost interest, or you have moved away then please could you remove yourself as moderator using the button at the base of the crag moderation page. Then reply to this thread with 'Crag Available' and the crag link inserted so that someone else can volunteer.
New Moderators
If you would like to moderate a crag, and feel you could do a better job than the current moderator, then reply to this thread with 'Crag Requested', the crag name and link so that we can arrange a switch if appropriate. We can now add second moderators to crags as well.
Thanks for everyone's help with UKC Logbook moderating. We are aware that this is sometimes a tiresome task and all your efforts are appreciated.
The previous UKC Moderator threads have got too big and has now been locked. Here they are for reference
Can you remove , I assume it was created for fun during lockdown but it is not a crag, just someone's home wall. (sorry!)
Bumping from the old archived thread, there seems to be a bug with getting the S grade option to appear for DWS routes in the route moderation page.
Crag requested Tussinkoski - I'm old mates with the current moderator, he has left Finland and doesn't seem to be climbing much now, or at least not logging anything on UKC.
I've made you the main mod for that crag.
Crag requested La Saume , New updated routes put in don't seem to be checked and added. Many thanks!
I've added you in as second mod.
I have volunteered to moderate Kiikkukallio and have up loaded the climbs, but they are not showing on the public page and also on the public page it is still asking for someone to volunteer to moderate? I can see the moderator's page though, and the climbs I have uploaded are visible there. Is this just a thing that my moderation and climbs uploads needs to be approved?
Cheers.

Hmm, looks ok to me, might just need to clear your cache to see the changes?
Could I be added to Gorges du Tarn please? There’s been a lot of new stuff since the last guidebook
Looks like the usual mod hasn't been very active recently so I've swapped you out as the main mod.
With agreement from the exisitng moderator, could you please add me as second to Craig y Aderyn - Bird Rock.
Many thanks,
No probs, just added you.
> Hmm, looks ok to me, might just need to clear your cache to see the changes?
I had to clear everything oddly - kind of annoying as I ended up having to re-sign in to loads of things - anyways, whatever! I now have another moderation request - can I be added to Vuorenmaki please?
No probs, added you as second mod.
No match for climb id:547796 should be deleted from Scafell Crag as it appears (correctly) on Scafell East Buttress.
You can use this page if it happens again. It'll just clear the cache for UKC https://www.ukclimbing.com/clear_cache.php
Thanks, I've sorted that out.
Can I be added to Nacka Kvarn please - loads of routes to add (top quality venue!)
Ta.
> Bumping from the old archived thread, there seems to be a bug with getting the S grade option to appear for DWS routes in the route moderation page.
Just a nudge on this point. The issue is that S grades only appear if the route is categorised as 'Sport' rather than 'Trad', and then the DWS option re-selected. Can be changed back to trad afterwards, but it makes for quite a faffy workaround to edit a bunch of routes that are classed as trad (which DWS should be?).

A related issue is that if a route is in the rockfax db then you can't update the symbols, so if it doesn't have a DWS symbol in rockfax the grade can't be sorted properly in UKC. For example https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/broad_haven-12311/jaws-160679
I've added you.
I'll look into this tomorrow.
Another good point. I'll see what I can do.
I would be happy to be an additional moderator for the Ring Road Boulder: I live 10 minutes' drive away and have become a fan of the place. I've ticked 35% of the problems/routes and want to get as close to 100% as I can!
https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/ring_road_boulder-8724/
I am hugely appreciative of all the work done by dan23584 who pioneered the place: I'm just happy to help out if Dan is okay with that.
EDIT: I have just sent a message to Dan to see if he is ok with my suggestion. I will let you know what he says.
No probs, added you as the second mod. Good luck on your quest for 100%!
Thanks! I will let Dan know that I have been added. I won't make any changes until I hear from him (unless I get no reply for ages)
Eric
No probs, just added you as the second mod.
Could I be a second moderator for https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/twynau_gwynion_quarries-1050/ please? Been climbing there today, and it could do with a tidy up so I can log everything. Thanks!
I've added you.
This is something that mildly irritates me and is in no way important but... The classic rock ticklist is subdivided into areas (Scotland, Wales, peak and Pennine, the SW etc) which is great. Could the hard rock and extreme rock ticklists be edited to be the same? Ticklists don't have a moderator so it would have to be done by a UKC mod I think.
Cheers.
And the Cold Climbs ticklists too!
Please make me moderator for https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/hambrook_wall-11713/ as it is a collection of scattered climbs, some of which belong in https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/ring_road_boulder-8724/ which I already moderate.
Please change the name of 'Ring Road Boulder' https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/ring_road_boulder-8724/ to 'Hambrook': this will bring it into line with the guidebook. Ring Road Boulder is one of the sectors in Hambrook. Thanks
Crag Requested: Huntsham

Crag Requested: Wyastone
Crag Requested: Coppet Hill
I've merged these two into Hambrook
Brilliant. I will sort this all out
Added you to those 3.
You should be able to edit those ticklists now.
This climb Le Char à Bancs (ED2 6c) (https://www.camptocamp.org/routes/56947/fr/le-pertuis-le-char-a-bancs) is on Le Pertuis (I just added) rather than baulmes du thuy which is the sport crag down the road. Can it be moved?
Cheers, will sort it later in the week.

Can I be added to Balma please? Balma

I've added you as second mod for both of those crags.

to Hambrook https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/hambrook-8724/
as it is part of Hambrook in the guidebook.
Thanks
Bump as I hope to do some work on this tomorrow
Thanks Remus, could I also be added to Cadarese too please?
Sorry for not getting to this in time for you Eric, should all be sorted now.
No probs, just added you as second mod.
No problem at all - I had plenty of other things to do
Hi, Could I be added as a moderator to Owey Island Owey Island, want to add a buttress and move some climbs.
thanks.
No probs, I've added you as second mod.
Ring Road Tower, Avon is a duplicate location (with some extra routes not found elsewhere: https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/ring_road_tower-4199/#maps
Ring Road Tower is also already (correctly) part of Hambrook https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/hambrook-8724/ but
Please move the Ring Road Tower, Avon duplicates to Hambrook so that I can merge them. Thanks
Please delete Grove Bak Buttress entirely https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/grove_bank_buttress-21515/#maps
as everything there is now in Hambrook where it should be
No probs, I've moved everything from ring road tower to hambrook (and put it all in a separate buttress so you can merge stuff where appropriate. I've deleted the now unused ring road tower crag.
Ive also deleted grove bank buttress.
> No probs, I've moved everything from ring road tower to hambrook (and put it all in a separate buttress so you can merge stuff where appropriate. I've deleted the now unused ring road tower crag.
Thanks - all merged as appropriate.
The now unused RRT crag is still showing https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/ring_road_tower-4199/#maps
Maybe it takes time for the deletion to take effect?
My bad, looks like there was some photos that needed to be moved across. All sorted now.
cant seem to add much text to my log on john damoclese, clogwyn yr adar, it just cuts it (could be a feature to stop me annoying everyone!);
https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/clogwyn_yr_adar-9435/john_damocles...
The grade and location for the Martinez Direct on Naranjo de Bulnes (Picos de Europa) both seem to be wrong. From the description it's clear that whoever entered it means the 'normal' route, however it's shown as on the East Face whereas the 'normal' route is on the South Face.
It's been graded VI+, I think this may be a typo for IV+ which equates to around HS/VS which is about right. The Cicerone guide gives the hardest pitch V- and online articles variously put it at IV+/V-

Hi George, you should be able to post a long comment in the log notes field.
Are you using emojis by any chance?
Could I be second mod on Ubley Warren and try and get it in some sort of order(closer to the guide book). Thanks

Hi, I've just noticed that the overview info for Kardamena Boulders on Kos seems to have disappeared. It looks like this may have happened in the process of creating an entry for the island of Kos as a whole here: https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/kos-17616/#overview
The photos I added of Kardamena are still there, and the map location is of Kardamena, but I can't see an actual entry for Kardamena anymore and the directions etc are missing. Are you able to check and restore? Thanks
Crag requested: There are a lot of new lines on Craig Dinas (Betws Y Coed) that have been waiting to be dealt with for a long time. I could at least sort out the ordering and approve those I know about.
Best to remove the last 4 routes (blue velvet, slip sliding, lakey hill and Niagara) from here https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/black_rock_arisaig-21122/#overview
They are at Ranochan which is several miles away.
Crag Requested - Stoney Point
I contacted one of the two previous moderators and he agreed to pass over the moderatorship to me. I am in the area and want to clean up the logbook and add all the missing climbs.
Could I be added to Cadshaw Quarry please to sort the bouldering grades? Happy to be switched back out for the others once it’s done!
Hmm, not sure what's happened there. Probably best to drop Paul an email (details are in the contact page).

The same situation that I highlighted in April keeps happening on a regular basis.
I'm getting pestered by someone that I can't reply to. I'm sure this glitch only surfaces when the few people view their "stats". This time it is Whose Line is it Anyway? (7a+)
Can you add me as an admin to The C please
Got a load of new problems and links to add, current moderator bolehillbilly is OK with this
No probs, just added you.
Kristian, might be worth dropping Paul an email as I'm not sure this is something I can sort.
Hi Kristian,
Please use the Report Discrepancy button on the climb edit page for these. I've sorted this one out.
Cheers, Paul.
Please could you add me to Saint Leger? A new guide's just come out and there are lots of lines to fill in (just buying a house in Malaucene so I'll be there a lot!)
Hey Ed, it looks like there's already a couple of mods for Saint Leger. Would you mind messaging them and seeing if they'd mind you taking over one of their spots?
Is there a bit of a glitch when you choose to add a new entry into your logbook and choose today from the drop down when abroad?
I assume it uses GMT as the base data so entries can have an incorrect date associated when for example you put an entry in the evening whilst in Canada (7 hours difference) but the day has obviously changed in the UK.
Not sure if there's any kind of fix for this but it's not immediately obvious that this will happen when abroad. Any way of setting your location or associating crags with a time zone?
I don't do any dev work for UKC but that definitely sounds plausible. Coincidentally I ran in to an almost identical issue on an unrelated project and it's fairly straightforward to sort once you know which bits of code need tweaking. Hopefully one of the UKC Devs will be along shortly.
Put you down for Leger mod powers, many thanks!
Can I please become the second moderator to Echo Cliffs
Keen to alter Anglezarke Quarry so the crag is ordered from Left to right to match modern guides if I can be 2nd Mod

Have come across an issue in Font where circuits are being redrawn, with new problems added to a circuit and existing problems are renumbered. An example of this is at Buthiers Piscine where the Orange circuit was refreshed and redrawn in 2017.
At the moment, the layout of the page is really good with different coloured circuits separated as a different crag with the individual problems listed below. Orange 1 F5, Orange 2 F4 etc
When a circuit is redrawn, quite a few of the original problems are retained but given a new number, so what was Orange 2 may now be Orange 6.
So not sure how to deal with this on the crag page. Is there any precedent or standard that should be followed. I can see a few options
-Create a new circuit (crag) named Orange circuit 2017 and create a whole new set of problems with the correct circuit numbers. This would cause duplication and probable confusion when searching for problems, especially if they have a name associated with them
-Create a new circuit (crag) named Orange circuit 2017 and move the retained problems into the new circuit, renaming them to indicate their new number and it was previously Orange xx
-Leave the circuit/crag as is, rename the problems as above and move to new position
I'm thinking third option is probably best, but would like to know what's been done or recommended in the past

Good question. My opinion would be option 2, creating a new buttress, adding any new problems and then moving + renaming anything that's been renumbered.
I think adding a new buttress to the crag page is a good way of making it clear that the circuit has been redrawn which will hopefully minimise confusion.
Hi Remus,
Can I please be added as a second moderator for Avon?
Avon Gorge (Suspension Bridge Area)
Thanks
I've added you as second mod for those crags. Thanks for your help.
Should be 6a not 2a.

I had a similar thing happen for an Austrian crag I moderate. An über moderator had added a load of extra routes (without having been there 😳) and managed to wipe my overview and access notes at the same time.

Could I be added to geraki wave please
No probs, just added you.
The Val di Mello crags are a bit of a mess of different grading systems, mostly located wrong, and there's a lot missing.
I was going to suggest Val di Mello be deleted, the first four climbs moved to and the last one to ...
...but maybe it's better just to keep Val di Mello and move all the following crags into it (my thinking here is that a lot of the slabs and buttresses have very few routes on them and most aren't popular, so putting them all together might make more sense for finding stuff):
Happy to moderate and tidy it all up.
Merging the smaller crags in to Val di Mello makes the most sense to me rather than having lots of small crags, so I've made you a mod on all of those crags. Let me know if there's anything else you need from me (I can't remember what permissions you need to merge a crag).
Sorted
Cheers, I'll hang fire on moderating until it can all be merged into one as that'll be a lot less faff, if you can pass it on to the appropriate authority?
> Cheers, I'll hang fire on moderating until it can all be merged into one as that'll be a lot less faff, if you can pass it on to the appropriate authority?
I've just merged all those together for you so good to go.
Thanks.
Question to the floor - what's the best way to grade routes that don't go completely free? This is common on longer routes outside the UK - having one or two sections at A0 or A1 or whatever. Or even being 50/50 aid/free. The current format doesn't allow a grade 6c A2 or whatever.
Two variations on this - routes which have actually been freed, but the majority of people aid the hard bit, where I guess you have the option of entering both versions separately (e.g. Pichenibule) and those that have not been freed, where the norm is just to give the grade of the free parts. But it would be good if the presence of obligatory aid was visible in the grade?
Requests to be added please

Can the route Supertrip (7b+) be moved to Val di Mello?

> Crag requested: La Pedriza Bouldering. Given how complicated La Pedriza is for crags, I think that a separate entry for the bouldering would be clearer. Prepared to create this.
How much of the access details are shared with the route climbing? If they're pretty similar it seems a shame to reproduce all the approach notes etc. for both routes and bouldering.
There are 39 separate sites in the bouldering guide, most of these are not shared with the crags. They are all around Manzanares El Real, but yes they share similar access to the crags in the main.
Can you add me to Griffig, kalymnos please.
mike.
Whatever you think is best really
If you want to create a separate crag for the bouldering can you do that in the usual way, then let me know which problems you want moving across to the new crag.
Thanks for your help sorting it out, looks like a big job!
As per my initial request, I've already checked with Radddog before asking. I know him & have spoken to him.

Bon Voyage (7a) appears as trad on UKC for some reason. It's fully bolted and is correctly listed as such in the rockfax
I noticed that too. I can't change it though as I reckon it happened when it was added to the app (I think?)
Thanks for the heads up. For things in the rockfax db these need to be reported to HQ, if you click 'update climb details' on the climb page there's then a button to report grade discrepancies like this (I've already done this one so no need to report it again).
Ok. Thanks. The grades on Griffig are for the most part, way out. I think there is a fair consensus on UKC now, enough to change the grades on the harder routes to make them more realistic.
I’ve added sensible grades to the route description where there are enough opinions (ie, most of them), but that doesn’t alter the headline grade and I don’t think I can do that. Need a tech or the boss to approve that and make it happen, please
Mike

Good idea. I've gone through and updated the grades on those, should be in line with your suggestions and the votes now. Where the grades match what you put in the description I've cleaned up the description too to avoid any confusion.
Seems to be some duplication at Arginonta Valley.
Number 10 - 100 are duplicates under ARGINONTA VALLEY.
They are correctly under CENTRAL already.
Can you transfer the few logs on these to the original routes and delete please.
Don’t know if this was a blunder by me, quite possibly. If so my apologies.
thanks

Done. May want to keep an eye on it, just guessing but it may have been created by some automatic process that fills in route from the rockfax db on UKC if they don't exist, and it's gotten confused.

I've added you.
Request to be added as a second moderator for Vall de Guadar crag. There's a lot of trad routes that are set as sport on the UKC logbooks and many routes that have been retrobolted since the last edition of Rockfax and I'd like to update some of these as I've not had a response from the current moderator yet.
Also thanks for the quickdraw again!
Happy new year thanks to all our mods making climbing easier for everyone!
I know that sounds kiss ass, but this place is valuable
Hello and HNY!
I am in a conundrum – the main bolter and guidebook author of Montanejos Montanejos believes that two thirds of climbs in his crag deserve 2 or 3 stars. Bringing everything down a notch (1 star) seems reasonable, even though the truly outstanding routes would miss out on their well deserved third star. (The only perfect solution would be to redo the stars completely, which of course I can’t do.) Any ideas?
Cheers, Pav

Can Afon Lloer Boulders and be combined into a single crag titled Afon Lloer Boulders?
This is how it's laid out in the current guidebook, and it's simpler than transferring problems which have been added in the wrong one. Happy to moderate and tidy it up if need be.
Hey Andy, just sorted that for you, this is the new crag called Afon Lloer https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/lily_savage_boulders-17134/ I assume the URL will sort itself out after a while.
There was a couple of mods on the crag already but I've swapped you out for Mason as it doesn't look like he's been super active on the crag recently.

Hi, thanks for that, already made some long overdue updates.
I don't know if its been suggested before but could we potentially merge:
They fall across the same hillside and are far closer than half the stuff in bovey woods is to each other so it doesn't really make sense to have 3 separate areas to search through. I'm happy to leave Lustleigh Ravens Tor and Sacrificial Virgin area separate though as they are significantly further away and require alternate access.
Let me know if there's any issues.
Cheers
I think it would be easier to navigate if this lot were combined.
