All the mentioned routes in chapter 3 of Peak Rock, climbed from just after World War 1 to the early 1930's. This decade saw the first use of twin ropes by Morley Wood on his ascent of Kelly's Overhang. The VS grade was firmly cemented by Fred Pigott,Jack Longland,Ivan Waller,Alf Bridge and Herbert Hartley. Also Harry Kelly,George Bower and others started explorations of the Chew Valley.
