Throughout July we will be placing a Golden Joe Brown Anniversary Torque Nut at 50 classic Joe Brown routes throughout Snowdonia and The Peak District, 25 in each location. Each nut will be either at the base or the top of a route that Joe ticked as a first ascent and will have a tag attached to it suggesting what you may want to do next.
The fifty of you lucky enough to find one of Joes Golden Nuts will be invited to send in a selfie with your nut along with the location you found it so that your details can then be entered into a grand draw to win a framed, signed poster of the legend himself; Mr Joe Brown.
From the 1st July through to the 14th August the hunt is on the hunt is on. Not all Golden Nuts will be in place at the same time so be sure to check routes that you return to. Hints are highly likely to be published on the Joe Brown blog pages & social media in the interim. Why not make this your summer of trad and take inspiration from one of the best all round British climbers of all time. Tackle some of the worlds greatest lines, embrace the fist jam, layback like a hero and learn a profound respect for route descriptions involving words such as bold and intimidating. Alternatively, visually appreciate the lines of the master, acquire your Golden Nut (if youre lucky) and climb something well within whatever grade you choose to enjoy the vertical world.
Grab a guidebook, get planning, get climbing and enjoy our wonderful sport, safely.
I think this is a cracking idea. I think Id better get myself ready. Joe Brown
Good luck!
